Shenandoah Brewery
In 2007 Coors-Shenandoah completed the start-up of a state-of-the-art brewery, with an annual capacity of seven million barrels. Located near the Blue Ridge Mountains in the community of Elkton, Virginia, the Coors-Shenandoah Brewery includes two brew lines, fermentation and aging equipment, grain handling (eight silos, two mill streams), and several structures to house controls and related processes.

- The brewery is 100,000 square feet
- Produced 1.6 million barrels in 1988, its first full year of operation
- The plant was originally designed to produce 2.5 million packaged barrels and has been expanded over the years
- Bill Coors searched for three years to find just the right location for a brewing facility outside of Golden. He chose Shenandoah because of its proximity to the high-quality water that flows from the Blue Ridge Mountains
- Building the company’s first new brewery in 130 years gave Coors an opportunity to use the best new technology to minimize its environmental impact, including:
- Profi Filtration System – Coors is the first major brewer to use membrane filtration as its main filtration system
- Eliminates need for solid waste disposal required with traditional filtration systems
- Highly efficient, ensures great quality
- Expanded CO2 collection systems allows Coors to capture and reuse all the CO2 from the fermentation process
