The International Beer Challenge pays tribute to exceptional beers of the highest quality and standards and has been running for 16 years. The awards presentation will be held at the Royal Society of Art in London on 10th September.
Sharp’s was also awarded four bronze medals for:

  • Doom Bar

  • Chalky's Bite

Stuart Howe, Head Brewer at Sharp’s, said: “Building on the International Beer Challenge success in 2011, the medals our beers have won this year underline the quality and breadth of Sharp’s portfolio.

“We’re all so pleased to have been recognised for our commitment to product innovation and new product development and to have achieved six medals this year is great testimony to the ongoing investment in the brewery and hard work at Sharp’s.”

In 2011, Sharp’s scooped International Beer Challenge bronze medals for Doom Bar and Monsieur Rock.

About Sharp’s Brewery Ltd
Founded in 1994, Sharp's Brewery is a modern brewer of cask conditioned beer based at Rock in Cornwall and has grown rapidly to become the largest brewer of cask beer in the South West and the owner of one of the UK's fastest growing cask beer brands, Doom Bar.

Sharp's beer is brewed exclusively using just British malted barley, whole hop flowers, Sharp's own yeast and Cornish water. The brewery at Rock is one of the UK's most sustainable and is an industry leader with a water to beer conversion ratio of just 2.8 litres per litre of beer compared to an industry average of 7 litres of water per litre of beer made. In 2011 Sharp’s increased employment at its Rock Brewery by 18%.

This year, Sharp’s won six medals at the International Beer Challenge Awards, adding to those won by Doom Bar and Monsieur Rock in 2011. Sharp’s Special and Chalky’s Bite were crowned in the best pale ale categories at the World Beer Awards in 2011 and Sharp’s Head Brewer, Stuart Howe, was also named All Party Parliamentary Beer Group Brewer of the Year.
