Corporate Responsibility Governance

2013 has provided Molson Coors with an opportunity to integrate “Our Beer Print” even further into our business functions and geographies. 

Being recognized as the global beverage sector leader on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for two consecutive years, in 2012/13 and 2013/14 has given us the opportunity to build our reputation and engage our commercial partners more effectively. Our 2015 strategic goal to improve Our Beer Print to create a competitive advantage for our brands and customers, has been widely recognized as an opportunity to create ‘shared value’ and build partnerships to shape our long term agenda. 

Secondly, we have taken the opportunity to review the role and accountability of the Corporate Responsibility Council, chartered in 2012 by the Executive Leadership Team. The CR Council has accountability for delivering performance in the strategic, operational and commercial areas of the business. The Council meets three times a year and is comprised of senior leaders who each report to a member of the Executive Leadership Team. It is championed by the Global Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Global Chief Supply Chain Officer. The council sets targets, measures and reports performance, and builds the company’s goal to improve Our Beer Print.

Thirdly, we maintain our leadership internal review and reporting. Corporate responsibility key performance indicators are integrated into the quarterly company performance review by the Executive Leadership Team, the company quarterly report to all leaders and quarterly communication to all employees across all our regions. The Board of Directors also review CR performance as part of their overall company performance oversight. Twice a year, the board undertakes a deeper dive into a corporate responsibility topic of particular importance or relevance.

Finally, we have our Corporate Responsibility program more tightly aligned with our commercial agenda, having CR reported on the Innovation Council on a monthly basis, and twice a year as a focus area on the Brands and Innovation Council. More closely aligning these programs provides the opportunity to start using our CR credentials to drive our program externally, through our supplier innovation, our customers and our consumers to bring scale and value to all parties.
