Our Values In Action: Ethical and Responsible Sourcing

Beer is essentially an agricultural product, with the major ingredients being malted barley and other grains, hops, yeast and water. Packaging materials are another key part of our business, used for bottles, cans, kegs as well as secondary packaging.

For our brewing and packaging materials, we have adopted basic Purchasing Standards focused on quality and performance. Because the vast majority of our supplies come from Europe and North America, they are produced under comprehensive environmental, employee safety and other employment safeguards.

We also have a model program for supplier diversity as well as a program of recognizing sustainable agricultural practices, both in the United States.

Now that Molson and Coors have come together into a common enterprise, we have identified procurement as a major priority for 2008. As part of this priority, we intend to introduce two corporate responsibility initiatives in 2008:

First, we will establish Global Supplier Guiding Principles, based on the Molson Coors shared values, that will address human rights and employee safety and legal compliance, as well as quality and product integrity standards.

Second, we will initiate a program for recognition of sustainability within the entire network of Molson Coors suppliers, as part of a broader Supplier Excellence Awards program.

We expect to report on our progress on these activities in the coming years.
